Official Opening – 48th Parliament of Australia

Pursuant to the instrument which the Clerk read earlier today, the 48th Parliament of the Commonwealth was officially opened. Her Excellency the Governor-General commanded that after Senators and Members of the House of Representatives were sworn, that she would declare in person, the cause of her calling the Parliament together.

Senate Swearing In Ceremony – 22 July 2025

This morning, I had the immense honour of being sworn in for my second term in the Senate, alongside all other Queensland Senators elected for the 48th Parliament, including Susan McDonald, whom I was first elected alongside back in 2019. I look forward to a productive second term working hard for the people of Queensland.

Last Post Ceremony

Prior to commencement of the 48th Parliament, a ceremony was held this afternoon at the Australian War Memorial. It reminds all Parliamentarians of the ultimate sacrifice made by over 103,000 Australians to protect and defend our freedom. Lest we forget.
