Last night was the St George Chinese Community Memorial Committee executive change over dinner.
The St George Chinese Memorial commemorates the Amoy shepherds who came to Queensland in the mid 1800’s from China as indentured labor and worked as shepherds in the St George region. None of them was able to return home. It is an incredibly moving part of the history of the contribution made to Australia of people of Chinese heritage.
