Minister for Employment, Workforce, Skills, Small and Family Business, Stuart Robert, said funding came from the Morrison Government’s $278 million Local Jobs Recovery fund.
“These are not just skills – these are the skills that will provide people the opportunity to start a great career in the Wivenhoe area,” Minister Robert said.
“This forms part of our skills-led economic recovery, where we are empowering industry, business owners and training providers to come up with local solutions for their local community.”
Senator Paul Scarr said the programs follow extensive consultations with the region’s Employment Facilitator to come up with solutions to redress unemployment in Indigenous and CALD communities across the region.
“Both the rail industry and the hospitality sectors are important to our region, and these will provide valuable opportunities for Indigenous Australians, as well as those from our multicultural communities,” Senator Scarr said.
“Participants will also get valuable mentoring and post-training support to ensure the success of these great initiatives.”
