While in Melbourne this week, I was grateful for the opportunity to meet with members of the Australian Ukrainian Community to discuss the role of multicultural and cultural diplomacy. With over 75 years of settlement of Ukrainians in Australia, engagement in this space is vitally important. With the full-scale invasion of Ukraine and the arrival of displaced people here in Australia, this has had a huge impact on the Ukrainian identity and culture. The Ukrainian diaspora in Australia is growing and evolving, and so is the need to maintain and support cultural and multicultural programs. It was fantastic to meet inside the Ukrainian Museum of Australia, so I could experience firsthand the depth of the Ukrainian culture along with their amazing educational programs and exhibitions currently on display.
