Yesterday, I had the opportunity to meet with representatives from the Australia Tibet Council and members of the Tibetan community.
For decades, Tibetan advocates around the world have worked to preserve their culture, language and religious freedoms, while raising awareness of the challenges facing Tibetans under Chinese government policy.
We discussed China’s new “Law on Promoting Ethnic Unity and Progress”, which is set to come into force this week, and the serious concerns it raises for the rights and freedoms of the Tibetan people.
