It was fantastic to catch up with my wantoks in the Queensland PNG Community earlier today!
This year marks a significant milestone for Papua New Guinea as the nation prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary of independence. It’s an exciting time for the community, filled with pride, reflection, and anticipation for the festivities ahead.
For me, this celebration holds special meaning—I had the privilege of living in PNG during the 25th anniversary of independence, and I still remember the incredible spirit and unity that surrounded that momentous occasion.
As we approach this golden jubilee, I look forward to doing everything I can to support the PNG community in Queensland in celebrating this historic event. It’s a time to honor the rich culture, traditions, and contributions of Papua New Guineans both in their homeland and here in Australia.
