It was an honour to attend mass at St Maroun’s Maronite Church and then celebrate the commencement of construction of a new church at Greenslopes. Queensland is blessed to have a wonderful Maronite community which is more than 4,000 strong. The new church project has been years in the making. In attendance were Maronite Bishop Antoine-Charbel Tarabay, Brisbane Archbishop Shane Mackinlay and St Maroun parish priest Fr Fadi Salame. The celebration was attended by about 400 people including Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner, deputy mayor Fiona Cunningham, Member for Clayfield Tim Nicholls and Honorary Counsel for Lebanon, Mr Anthony Torbey.
