Ipswich Assist does a wonderful job throughout the year helping vulnerable individuals and families in our community.
Christmas is a time for goodwill and giving, and over the next fortnight Ipswich Assist’s South Street headquarters becomes a busy collection and distribution centre for Christmas hampers.
Ipswich Assist manager Jason Budden and his team of dedicated volunteers are flat-out handling pallets and cartons of donated food, toiletries, Christmas treats and gifts.
It’s a hive of activity at South Street with volunteers busily putting together beautiful hampers for those in need in our community.
Ipswich has a big heart. The generosity of our local people and businesses has been wonderful, but Ipswich Assist can always use more.
Local Senator Paul Scarr is again backing Ipswich Assist’s Christmas appeal.
Most years, the charity distributes around 200 hampers. This year the target is 300.
To help reach the target, Senator Scarr will match donations for the first 100 hampers.
“It’s a great cause, and I’m asking everyone to support Ipswich Assist’s Christmas Hamper appeal and its target of giving hampers to 300 needy families,” Senator Scarr said.
Senator Scarr is also sponsoring hospitality and cookery students and staff at Bundamba TAFE to prepare some gingerbread houses and trees, fruit cakes and mini gingerbread men to make these hampers extra special.
A donation of $25 will enable Ipswich Assist to bring some joy to a family in need.
