Media Release – Senator Scarr Backs Seafood Campaign

Queensland Senator Paul Scarr has welcomed the announcement of $4 million in funding for Australia’s first national marketing campaign to promote Australian seafood.

Senator Scarr said the funding was essential to help the industry during COVID-19.

“The Morrison Federal Government backs Australian seafood,” Senator Scarr said.

“Total demand for our seafood has dropped by up to 80 per cent in some areas.”

It’s hoped the campaign, which will be led by Seafood Industry Australia, will encourage Australians to buy more seafood.

“There is no better place to get a taste of Australian seafood than Queensland. It’s great to be at South Bank, one of Brisbane’s most popular tourism hotspots, supporting this announcement.

“Supporting our seafood industries also helps support our tourism industries, our restaurants and our small businesses.

“I hope Australians will support this hook, line and sinker. Let’s Eat Seafood, Australia!”

The campaign will be launched in the coming months through TV, print and social media.
