Assistant Minister for Customs, Community Safety and Multicultural Affairs, the Hon Jason Wood MP and Senator Paul Scarr has congratulated the Islamic College of Brisbane and the Islamic Charitable Organisation at the Kuraby Mosque on their successful projects receiving funding as part of the Safer Communities Fund round five infrastructure grants.
Senator Paul Scarr welcomed the allocation of $638,100 in funding for these two projects, one of the many successful recipients selected as part of the program.
“These grants are helping to keep our communities safer by boosting the efforts of local councils, schools and pre-schools, places of religious worship and community organisations to address crime and antisocial behaviour in their area,” Assistant Minister Wood said.
“I thank Senator Paul Scarr for his strong lobbying to secure this funding for the Islamic College of Brisbane and the Kuraby Mosque. Senator Scarr stressed to me the importance of these two pillars of the Muslim community of Queensland and the need to secure the safety of the community.
Senator Scarr said “Be it charitable activities during the bush fire crisis, the COVID 19 pandemic, or providing a nurturing place to worship and learn. The Muslim Community of Queensland demonstrates its importance to our Australian community and its success is fundamental to the success of our multicultural society.”
