In my capacity as Co‑Chair of the Parliamentary Friends of SBS, I had the privilege of attending the Ramadan Iftar Dinner hosted by the Governor General and SBS at Admiralty House in Sydney. There were leading members of the Muslim community in attendance as well as senior figures of other faiths. Guests included Sheikh Shadi Alsuleiman of ANIC, the Grand Mufti of Australia Dr Ibrahim Abu Mohamed, Archbishop Anthony Fisher of the Catholic Church, The Most Reverand Kanishka Raffel of the Anglican church and Rabbi Zalman Kastel of Together for Humanity. Special shout out to my fellow Queenslander, Sheikh Akram Buksh, the Imam of Slacks Creek Masjid for his contribution to the event. The message was one of unity and hope. Thank you to Her Excellency, the Hon Sam Mostyn AC and Dr Nick Pappas AM, SBS Acting Director for hosting such an important event.
