Parliamentary Friends of Refugees

Last night I attended the Parliamentary Friends of Refugees event.

Since its inception in 1986, Refugee Week has been an important opportunity to recognise the contributions of refugees in Australia and reflect on our nation’s long humanitarian tradition, including the granting of over one million humanitarian visas since 1947.

This year’s theme, “A Million Stories”, highlights the rich and diverse experiences of those who have sought safety and built new lives here, while also acknowledging the 75th anniversary of the 1951 Refugee Convention, a cornerstone of international refugee protection.
