Locally based Senator for Queensland Paul Scarr today attended Staines Memorial College to open new facilities funded by the Coalition Government.
Senator Scarr said students would benefit from the new learning areas that would enable students to enhance their leaning potential.
The Coalition Government provided $950,000 for the project through the Capital Grants Program, which provides funding for non-government schools to improve capital infrastructure.
“It was great to visit Staines Memorial College to see the new facilities and hear about the positive impact it will have on students,” Senator Scarr said.
“Staines Memorial College has a wonderful school community. The school is located in Redbank Plains and draws students from one Queensland’s fastest growing areas. The students come from a diverse range of backgrounds which reflects the multicultural nature of our region.
“The Coalition Government is ensuring that every child gets a quality education no matter where they go to school. School funding has increased every year under our Government.
“Our Government is providing record funding for government schools, for Catholic schools and for Independent schools.
“We are delivering real, needs-based funding that is driving better results and outcomes.
“I was so impressed by the culture at the school, the leadership of the teachers and the conduct of the students. As soon as I arrived, you could feel the positive environment. It is a credit to everyone involved in the school community.”
