LNP TO DELIVER CRITICAL AMBERLEY INTERCHANGE UPGRADE

A Dutton LNP Government will deliver $200 million to upgrade the Amberley Interchange in Ipswich.

“When I speak to residents, it’s clear that traffic at the Amberley Interchange is a major cause of stress for our community,” LNP candidate for Blair, Carl Mutzelburg said.

“On top of the significant travel delays, there have been 90 traffic incidents and 3 fatalities between 2018 and 2022.

“For 17 years, Labor MP Shayne Neumann has had the opportunity to fix the Amberley Interchange and delivered nothing despite State Labor being in power for most of that time. He has taken local residents for granted.

“I have been on the phone almost every day fighting for this upgrade. I launched a petition, canvassed residents, and placed pressure on our sitting member. Today I am pleased to be part of a Dutton LNP team that will deliver for Ipswich and Somerset.

“It is an embarrassment to Ipswich that our 5000 RAAF Amberley serving men and women, and the residents of the area risk their lives every day as they use this intersection.”

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said, “The Cunningham Highway is a major national highway and is the backbone to Ipswich’s transport network, carrying both freight and passenger vehicles.

“This highway services RAAF Base Amberley, Ipswich’s growth corridor, the Ripley Valley Priority Development Area (PDA), and will also service the future Ebenezer Regional Industrial Area (ERIA).

“This urgent upgrade is required to ease congestion, cater for future growth, and improve safety along the length of this highway through Ipswich.

“We have seen too many accidents and fatalities on this part of the Cunningham Highway. The people of Ipswich have been asking for this work for over three decades with zero progress.

“I thank Carl Mutzelburg for his strong advocacy and securing this funding for our community.”

Senator Paul Scarr said, “I have been fighting to fix Amberley Interchange since moving my office to the Ipswich region in 2020.

“The Coalition will work collaboratively with the State LNP to get this done. The local Labor MP has not fixed the Amberley Interchange in 17 years, and you can’t trust him to fix it now.”
