A Dutton-Littleproud Coalition Government will deliver an additional $20 million to match the LNP State Government’s $20 million commitment to improve the safety of the notorious Brisbane Valley Highway, which sits as one of Queensland’s Top 10 Worst Roads.
Liberal National Party Candidate for Blair, Carl Mutzelburg said the community was concerned about the poor condition of the Brisbane Valley Highway and lack of action by the Labor Party.
“In bringing Senator Bridget McKenzie to witness first-hand the road condition, I am delighted that the Coalition has committed to providing the funding needed to prioritise this project.”
Shadow Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development, Senator Bridget McKenzie said the Brisbane Valley Highway was an important arterial and freight corridor for the Somerset region which has been neglected by the State and Federal Labor governments.
Senator Paul Scarr had previously called for the Albanese Labor Government to match the additional $20 million of funding which was committed by the State LNP Government.
“When I called for this additional funding, the Labor MP, Shayne Neumann, referred to past funding, and accused me of not being aware of previous commitments. A few weeks later, the Albanese Labor Government agreed to provide the additional funding,” Senator Scarr said.
I’m just so pleased we secured this additional funding for the people of the Somerset Region, and I congratulate Mayor Jason Wendt, all the Councillors and both State MP’s, Jim McDonald, Member for Lockyer and Deb Frecklington, Member for Nanango for their ongoing advocacy.
