INVESTING $1.125M TO UPGRADE KENMORE BEARS RUGBY UNION CLUB

The Kenmore Bears Rugby Union Club has been proudly serving their community since 1965 becoming a cornerstone of Junior Rugby for Brisbane’s Western Suburbs, but now is the time to get behind a club that has always been behind their own local community.

Only the Coalition will fund the $1.125M needed for the Kenmore Bears Rugby Union Club to once and for all upgrade their current male bathrooms, with their current walk through changerooms to be converted to a designated female player changeroom. This funding would also ensure that current female visitor bathroom could be converted to a referee room, further supporting the club’s expansion.

Federal Liberal National Party Candidate for Ryan, Maggie Forrest, said “These changerooms are crucial for sporting clubs just like the Kenmore Bears Rugby Union Club. They directly impact players comfort, hygiene, and overall experience that they have their sport”.

President of Kenmore Bears Rugby Union Club, David Benjamin said “This project is desperately needed to bring us into the 21st century.  I believe it is one of the biggest contributing factors holding back our female participation. The fact that to use the change rooms, they need to go through the 1970s male bathrooms and past the urinals – hardly an appealing prospect”.

This commitment is part of the Liberal National Party’s plan to strengthen our local communities and get Australia back on track. To read more about our plan, visit https://www.liberal.org.au/our-plan.
