Media Release – New Facilities For Students At Groves Christian College

Senator for Queensland Paul Scarr today announced Groves Christian College will benefit from a new carpark and student drop off zone thanks to a Coalition Government grant.

Senator Scarr said the Australian Government would provide $170,000 towards the project through the Capital Grants Program, which provides funding for non-government schools to improve capital infrastructure.

“Students and staff at Groves Christian College will benefit from stormwater infrastructure, a new carpark and student drop off zone, which will improve safety and better support the College’s growing numbers,” Senator Scarr said.

“Groves Christian College has a wonderful school community, and these new facilities will make it safer and simpler for staff, students and parents.

“Students and teachers thrive when their schools have modern and up-to-date facilities – that’s why the Morrison Government is proud of the Capital Grants Program, which has benefited thousands of schools across the nation.

“This project is being fast-tracked to help support our local school, create jobs, and drive economic growth, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our Government is ensuring that every child gets a quality education no matter where they go to school. We are providing a record $314.2 billion in recurrent funding for all Australian schools under our Quality Schools package.

“We are delivering real, needs-based funding that is matched by national reforms that will drive better results and outcomes, as recommended by David Gonski in his Review to Achieve Educational Excellence in Australian Schools.

“I congratulate Groves Christian College on their successful grant application and look forward to seeing the positive impact the new facilities will have on students and our community.”
