Great to be in Melbourne for the Australian Vietnamese Women’s Association AGM. In 1983, a group of amazing Vietnamese Australians came together to found the group with a vision to help those in need in the community whatever their background. Some 42 years later, the Association has nearly 500 employees and dozens of volunteers providing a range of services. In this the 50th anniversary of Vietnamese settlement in Australia, it is another example of how the Vietnamese Australian community continues to make an outstanding contribution to our beautiful country. A heartfelt thank you to Nicky Chung, Chief Executive Officer, for the kind invitation.
