After a busy sitting week in Canberra, it was fantastic to attend the Rotary Club of Sunnybank’s Citizenship Ceremony this morning, welcoming 50 conferees from 16 different countries.
We also enjoyed a special performance before the ceremony from Jonnathan Huang & Shannon Wong who sang ‘I Still Call Australia Home’.
Citizenship ceremonies are a powerful reminder of the values that unite us, our democratic values, respect for the rights and liberties of our fellow Australians and the rule of law.
As I said to all of our new citizens: “not only did you find Australia, but Australia found you!”
