Media Release – Announcement of New Shadow Mininstry

With today’s announcement by the Opposition Leader, the Hon. Angus Taylor MP, I cease my role as Shadow Minister for Immigration, Shadow Minister for Citizenship & Multicultural Affairs, and Deputy Manager of Opposition Business in the Senate.

I thank the Hon. Sussan Ley MP for the opportunity to serve in her Shadow Ministry.  I also take this opportunity to once again congratulate the Hon. Angus Taylor MP on his election as Opposition Leader.

To the many stakeholders and community leaders I have met over the last nine months, thank you for sharing your knowledge and insights.  It is deeply appreciated.  It has been a privilege to engage with you.  I have been inspired by the work that you do, especially for people in need.

I also thank colleagues for their support.  I particularly thank Senator the Hon. Jonno Duniam for the collaborative, cooperative and courteous way he worked with me during his time as Shadow Minister for Home Affairs.

In relation to my service as Deputy Manager of Opposition Business, I thank the Senate Leadership team (and their offices) who provided support in the discharge of my duties; namely, Senator the Hon. Michaelia Cash, Senator the Hon. Anne Ruston, Senator the Hon. Jonno Duniam, Senator Wendy Askew and Senator the Hon. Bridget McKenzie.  It was rewarding being part of the leadership team.

I wish my successor in each of my positions all the very best.

I look forward to continuing to serve the people of Queensland in the Senate to the best of my ability.
