An elected Coalition Government will provide $100,000 to the Centenary Stormers to kick-start critical renovations to their facilities, including repairs to Field 1’s catch nets, the installation of electronic score boards and upgrades to their visitor change rooms, ensuring the club is well placed long into the future.
Liberal National Party Candidate for Oxley, Kevin Burns says “The Centenary Stormers are committed to the Oxley community so assisting them to continue to foster growth in community sport is an absolute no brainer. I’ve been listening to the community who say these upgrades are well overdue for the club”.
The Centenary Stormers have been encouraging players from all walks of life, backgrounds, abilities, and skill level through regular practices, matches, and community involvement.
Over recent years, they have seen their numbers of registered players grow from 319 players in 2019 to just under 500 in 2023 and they anticipate further growth over the coming seasons, with new and returning players.
Senator for Queensland, Paul Scarr said “I have seen firsthand the great work this club undertakes in our community. Sport is vital for our communities because it fosters social connections, improves physical and mental health, and contributes to player well-being. By providing these upgrades, the Centenary Stormers will be able to continue building stronger community bonds”.
He continued “This funding means that the Centenary Stormers can continue to actively engage with the local community through their various initiatives, fostering a passion for football and teamwork. It’s only an elected Coalition Government that will invest in grass roots sporting clubs here in Oxley”.
This commitment is part of the Coalition’s plan to strengthen our local communities and get our country Back on Track.
