War memorial groups, Mount Crosby State School , Ripley Valley State Secondary College and the Pipes and Drums National Servicemens’ Memorial Band at Forest Lake in the Federal electorates of Blair and Oxley will soon receive funds for commemorative projects and, in the case of the band, new tartan kilts.
Local region Senator, Paul Scarr, said five organisations (listed below) had been allocated a combined $41,000 under the Morrison Government’s Saluting Their Service grants program.
“Both Blair and Oxley electorates have a proud military history and the grants will help preserve that history for future generations,” Sen Scarr said.
“The recipients will undertake a range of works from upgrading memorial gardens, installing new flagpoles and plaques to buying new kilts for band members to wear while performing.
“I congratulate the recipients on their successful grant submissions and encourage other organisations in our region to get involved in future rounds and consider submitting an application for any upcoming projects,” Sen Scarr said.
Organisations across Australia shared in more than $1.2 million to fund projects to help ensure commemoration of current and former Defence Force personnel continues.
The Department of Veterans’ Affairs administers the STS grants. Applications for the next round of STS grants is now open. For more information or to submit your application, visit the STS page on the Grants Hub or visit the DVA website.
