Media Release – Shadow Minister For Infrastructure, Transport And Regional Development Senator Bridget Mckenzie Visits Amberley Interchange

Shadow Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development, Senator Bridget Mckenzie visited the Amberley Interchange today with locally based Senator Paul Scarr and the Liberal National Party candidate for Blair, Carl Mutzelburg.

Senator Scarr said, “It was seven years ago that the then Deputy Prime Minister, Michael McCormack visited the Amberley Interchange and announced the then Coalition Government was putting $170 million on the table to fix the Amberley Interchange.  But with a Labor State Government and a Labor Federal member, Labor failed to deliver.”

“There has been a Labor member here for 18 years.  For 14 of those 18 years, there was a Labor State Government.  But Labor has failed to fix the Amberley Interchange. There are no excuses. It is a disgrace.”

On her visit to Ipswich and the Amberley Interchange, Senator Bridget McKenzie said “As we have seen over the past three years, the Albanese Labor Government is long on promises but comes up short on delivery. Whether it’s the Bruce Highway, the Sunshine Coast rail line or the many road projects here in Ipswich, Labor fails to deliver”.

LNP Candidate for Blair, Carl Mutzelburg says “There are no excuses as to why the Amberley Interchange has not already been funded by Labor. This was an opportunity to show Bridget why this upgrade is vital for our region and why the Amberley Interchange needs fast tracked funding.”
