It was a busy week of engagements for me last week including an invitation to attend and celebrate the New Year with the Australian Karen Organization at Morayfield Community Hall.
The Karen community takes immense pride in celebrating its rich cultural heritage and traditions, and this year, that was no exception.
They celebrate New Year on the First Day of Tha Lay/Hteet Kaung Poo, a month on the lunar calendar that falls around the end of December or the beginning of January.
The celebrations were a vibrant and colorful occasion, filled with traditional Karen music, dances, and cuisine and I look forward to attending again next year.
